Every signage quote in Dubai tends to promise the same things — quality materials, fair prices, quick turnaround. What separates a good outcome from a frustrating one rarely shows up in the paperwork; it shows up in how the job is actually run once the deposit's been paid. A few checks before you sign can save a lot of grief later.
Ask for photos of real, installed signs
A polished render only shows what a company can draw. It says nothing about what they can actually fabricate and fit. Ask for photographs of finished, installed work — similar in scale or type to your own project if possible — and, better still, an address you could go and look at yourself.
Find out if fabrication happens in-house
Some signage companies handle design and project management but pass the actual manufacturing and fitting to a third party. That's not automatically a problem, but it does put a layer between you and whoever's doing the physical work, and that usually means slower fixes when something needs adjusting. Just ask outright: is this made in-house, or outsourced?
Read the quote for what it actually covers
Look closely at what's included — design revisions, permits and approvals, installation, and electrical connection if the sign's illuminated. A lower headline price that leaves out installation or permit handling can end up costing more once those turn up as separate line items.
Push for a realistic timeline, not a vague one
Once you account for artwork sign-off, material lead times and any permits, signage almost always takes longer than first assumed. A company willing to give you a specific, honest timeline up front is a better sign than one that just says "quick turnaround" and leaves it there.
Ask who you call once the sign is up
Illuminated and outdoor signage needs looking after — LED modules fail eventually, vinyl fades, fixings work loose over time. Whether a company offers ongoing maintenance and repair, rather than just new installs, tells you a lot about whether they want a long-term relationship or just a one-off sale.
